WHO ARE YOU?

WHO ARE YOU?

WHO ARE YOU?

The 4 ways you’ve already answered that question, and the magnificent Prickly Pear Seed Oil!

Whether it’s a potential employer, your partners’ parents or even a blind date, we all worry about making a great first impression. It’s no myth that people make up their mind about you within the very first few minutes of interaction. When meeting new people, there are a few things we do notice first, and like it or not, we do judge people, involuntarily. Not very civil of us in this day and age, but it pays to know what people pay attention to first and how we can fix any bad first impressions we make. We’ll be teaching you how to leave an impression that lasts and charm their socks off!!

MN’s Confidence Checklist

  1. Appearance

It’s no secret that appearance plays a big part in how people respond to you upon meeting. Have you taken extra time to do your hair? Have you opted to go for a larger than life shirt as opposed to the cosmopolitan monochrome simple look? Have you chosen to go for absolute comfort in very worn out trainers, or made the sacrifice to wear smarter boots or heels? In an ideal world, we would be able to get away with dressing down and opting for comfort rather than style, but if you are setting out to ‘wow’ and impress, sacrifices must be made! Taking care of your overall image says quite a bit about how seriously you take yourself, and how seriously you expect others to take you. In your leisure time, we urge to lounge and dress for maximum comfort (we always do…) but when it matters, do make an effort! People do care and they will judge, some more harshly than others. Set out to make the best impression you can and wow your audience!

  1. Sound

The way you sound is vital in how people respond to what you say. Do you speak quietly or in a monotone manner? Are you loud and brash, taking over every conversation you have? The way you speak tells quite a bit about how confident you are, and if that confidence is masking any insecurities. Over the next few interactions you have, we urge you to notice how people participate in the conversation. What does it tell you about their character? And thus in turn, what does the way sound say about you? If you are not happy with how your voice sounds, we suggest possibly seeing a vocal coach. They are not only helpful to singers, and you would be surprised to find out just how many people have actually had voice training! There is absolutely no shame in it; especially if it gives your voice that added “oomph” you have wanted for a while!

  1. Scent

Yes, we haven’t come too far from our prehistoric days. If someone smells quite nice, we do want to be around them. Not only do they seem more attractive, but they are also more inviting to be around. How many times can you recall being completely mesmerised by someone who has just walked by that is smells incredible? Smelling good allows you to stand out and shows that you take time and care in how you present yourself, even in terms of hygiene. Hygiene is more than just showering in the mornings. It’s taking the time to brush your teeth properly and floss, to shower, and wear deodorant and perfume/body spray. People do notice your scent. How great is your hygiene and what does it say about you? Are your armpits charm-pits!

  1. 1st 12 words

Upon meeting someone new, the very first few words you utter will imprint on their mind of how they should interact with you. How you exchange greetings tells of how your overall character may possibly be. Do you speak with the Queens English, and ask “how do you do?” Or, are you much more relaxed and feel that a simple “Hi, how are ya?” will suffice? Different types of interaction call for different sides of us. With friends and family, be as careless as you please, but if you are to make an impression with someone new (and highly important) take the time to enunciate, my dear. Speak slower. Calmer. Rid your vocabulary of slang and acronyms, and make an impression the Queen would be impressed by! You must take yourself seriously in every aspect, and in turn, people will know just how much of their respect they should give you. Heels, blow-drys, charm-pits and vocal classes at the ready!! Ready, set, go! Good luck, our darlings!!

The Prickly Pear Seed Oil

We are falling in love all over again at MN. We can’t seem to get enough of our Prickly Pear Seed Oil, and by the looks of it, neither can you! We’ll be using this weeks post to tell you a little more about the miracle oil that is extremely hard to come by, and yet, here we are taking care of all your beauty wonder needs! Also, be on the lookout for another clue this week for our exciting giveaway!!)

The Prickly Pear goes by a long list of names, as it is not a homegrown fruit, sadly, but it is imported from various countries around the world. The Prickly Pear (or, Barbarie De Fig, Barbary Fig Oil, Cactus Oil, Aknari and Opuntia Ficus Indica, if we are to use any of its other names) is actually a native fruit to Mexico, however it is very common to find in dry desert places along North Africa and the Middle East. The fruit is more commonly eaten in places where it had grown, and it is very versatile in the sense that it can be eaten as a snack, but also made into chutney’s, added to drinks/smoothies, and even as an ingredient in meals. However, we love to use it as our beauty fix, by extracting the oil from the seeds and using it as a moisturiser! We love how great our skin feels and looks, and this is exactly why we just continue to fall in love with it again, and again, and again...

Our oil comes from the Prickly Pears found in the deepest parts of Morocco, down in the south where the only form of travel is by bus alone. It is a common beauty product used by the women of the villages in South Morocco as they rely on traditional beauty fixes that have been passed down for generations. The Prickly Pear is rich in antioxidants, offering exceptional skin hydration, which is very telling of why the women of Morocco love it! With the scorching heat, it is their secret fix; a secret fix we are so happy to share with you and offer!
